近三五年來，數據新聞一躍成為最熱門的新聞類型。不過，大家在了解、學習這種新型新聞的過程中，難免會犯些「新手錯誤」。為此，我們綜合了財新數據可視化實驗室負責人黃志敏在浸會大學的講座內容和 Initium Lab 數據新聞實操經驗，總結出八大誤區，供大家一探究竟。

活动简介：本次的Symbols & Keys，组织者Mart邀请到了在Facebook London office工作的Hong Chun Leung，前来分享「当一个data scientist是种什么体验」。Hong Chun在去Facebook前曾在UCL攻读Machine Learning专业，也在King（制作Candy Crush的公司）工作过，在数据科学方面有不少实战经验。
Hong Chun Leung 对于问题 “What do data scientists do?” 直接给出答案：“Drive impact, strategy through data.” 并对这个答案解释如下：“A data scientist should know ‘How users are using your product?’, which means a data scientist should 1) understand the product; 2) do experimentation (very very important); 3) build data structure”。 Continue reading

I must confess: I was slightly reluctant before joining the Inaugural Colloquium of D&N Society. I was afraid we will hear a lot about the mantra of data without even scratching the surface of “what data is really about?” and “how can we make the most of it without making it larger than life?”. P話停更許久，很多朋友來關心過。感覺是時候報報近況。
那現在我在做什麼？——我是記者。在「端傳媒」。
說時髦一點，是「數據記者」。唬人一點，也可以自稱「數據科學家」，畢竟我還是有些許學術和技術背景。既然是「數據記者」，那我們做的自然就叫「數據新聞」了。什麼算數據新聞呢？回答這個問題，如同回答什麼是雲計算？什麼是物聯網？什麼是大數據？什麼是H5？……和任何一個新興行業一樣，buzzword的背後，有人在做乾貨，有人只是在玩弄商業詞藻。有人是興趣使然，有人只是職業憂慮——怕跟不上這一波潮流。所以，不如拋開定義，舉點例子。其實，我幾個月前寫的文章《40张图解Code for系列风潮》中，提到兩個案例即是。 Continue reading
